The Duckies
I’ve painted some adorable as heck ducks and I just wanted to showcase them here.
The idea for the first textured duck came to me randomly one day and I had an intense urge to complete it right then and there. I pulled out a canvas and completed it in practically one sitting, something quite difficult for me. I just had a vision and didn’t want to lose it. I was so damn proud of the finished product. Here it is:
I liked it so much, I made art prints, which sold more than I thought they would in all honesty. I thought that I could then paint a ton of furry animals in a similar style and thought I could do so with a weenie dog…what a failure. Look at this ugly little guy:
That is art for you. Sometimes it works and sometimes it just. does. not. I think I could do a penguin or maybe a mouse in this style, perhaps. This weenie dog is why I am so hesitant to try something again. Because of FAILURE! It is a large reason why I face a motivation block, I am afraid that what is in my head won’t actually turn out good. Which happens a lot. Like, a lot. But sometimes, like with the original duckie, it turns out so so good. The OG duckie has a new owner now, and it was kind of heartbreaking saying goodbye to it. But it went to someone who thought it was sick, just as much as I do, which makes me feel better. I also painted some textured duckies on a record, which is also up for grabs:
And after years and years of wanting to do a painting with ducks all wearing different hats, I have finally completed it:
This one is currently in my room and I stare at it every day, I like it so much. It is also available, but would also be difficult to part with. Anyways, I love me a textured duckie, and am glad I was randomly hit with a vision of the OG version on a random day in December 2023. Stay tuned, I might attempt more animals in this style…if I can manage to be brave enough to try again.
